Ms. Harrington, MIIM, GPC, is the President and Founder of MJH Grants, LLC. A seasoned grant professional with more than 20 years of non-profit development experience, Maura worked overseas in the Former Soviet country of Georgia for more than ten years in a variety of non-profit positions before returning to the US and entering the healthcare sector as a Senior Grant Writer at Boston Medical Center and later, Lahey Health Systems. To date, Maura has helped dozens of nonprofits raise tens of millions of dollars in foundation, state, and government grants.
In 2017, Maura obtained her Grant Professional Certification (GPC) from the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. She serves on the Program Committee of the Grant Professionals Association (GPA), a national organization dedicated to the advancement of grant professionals. Maura is also a GPA-Approved Trainer and teaches grant writing in the community.
Maura is happily married. She and her husband have four children and five
grandchildren. She enjoys traveling with her family and open water swimming when not working.
Nancy Benton is a grant consultant with over 30 years of experience as a market research professional, project director, and business proposal writer. She is delighted to have shifted her focus to the nonprofit sector where she can apply her passion for writing, research, and coordinating the many moving parts necessary to find, secure, and sustain funding for mission-driven organizations.
Nancy enjoys partnering with a variety of organizations to identify new funding opportunities, develop targeted and compelling proposal content, and efficiently manage the overall grant process. Leveraging her background in survey research, Nancy also supports program evaluation and reporting.
Nancy gained nonprofit development and grant writing experience through several volunteer and internship roles. She completed coursework in advanced grant proposal writing, fundraising, and nonprofit management, and continues to expand her knowledge and skills through frequent professional development webinars. She is also an active member of the Grant Professionals Association.
Nancy spent ten years as a Research Proposal Director for Ipsos, a global market research firm, where she developed complex large-scale proposals that won new business while optimizing quality, efficiency, and internal coordination. For nearly 20 years, she held the positions of Account Group Manager and Senior Study Director at Synovate (formerly Market Facts) where she managed some of the industry’s largest market research projects for Fortune 500 clients in financial services, tech, retail, and packaged goods. She worked for two years as a Project Director for a media research and consulting firm. Nancy holds a BA in Psychology from Smith College.
Nancy volunteers as an ESL tutor with Literacy Unlimited, a grant writer/fundraiser with Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries, SPARK Kindness, and VHL Alliance, and offers general support to Family Promise Metrowest. Nancy enjoys spending time with family, travel, cooking, and practicing yoga, meditation, tai chi, and Reiki.
Allison Titus is an Associate Grant Writer at MJH Grants. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English with minors in Economics and Women’s and Gender Studies from Boston College. She has internship experience in marketing and communication at various companies, as well as experience in the food service industry. She has a personal history of fundraising for breast cancer research, which allowed her the opportunity to engage in various public speaking and marketing roles. Her fundraising experience and passion for writing led her to MJH Grants, where she is excited to learn more about grant writing.
Allison enjoys reading and writing fiction, spending time with family and her two cats, and occasionally dabbling in ceramics.
Kaitlyn Gable is an Associate Grant Writer at MJH Grants. She graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in English and minors in Gender Studies and Anthropology. Her education focused heavily on writing and research. Before joining MJH Grants, she worked as a teaching fellow at a private New Hampshire elementary and middle school. Her interests, however, lie in writing and social justice, which drew her to MJH Grants. Now she is ready to use her creativity and writing skills to help MJH’s clients receive the funding they need.
When outside the office, she enjoys hiking and trying to find space for her book collection.
Lisa McAvoy is an Administrative Assistant at MJH Grants. She received her B.A. in Spanish from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Early on in her career, she worked for 10 years in client support in the publishing, human resources, and logistics management industries, where she was able to use her Spanish language skills to assist Hispanic/Latinx clients.
After leaving the workforce to raise her three children, Lisa held many part-time and temporary administrative jobs, and worked for 10 years in childcare. Lisa recently switched her focus back to administration and is delighted to use her client support experience, communication skills, and attention to detail to assist Maura and her team.
Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, going for long walks, and reading.
